LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson men's indoor track and field team opened the Centennial Conference Championships with a bang on Saturday afternoon as the Red and White broke three records and ultimately sit in third-place as the action concluded at Franklin and Marshall College.
Sprints
Franklyn Akabi-During continued his phenomenal rookie campaign by setting the championship, conference and Dickinson record for the 60m by posting a time of 6.84 to be named the top qualifier for tomorrow's championship race. The duo of
Darian Crim and
Jason Hollinger also earned their spot in tomorrow's action with fourth (7.05) and eighth (7.17) place finishes.
William O'Connor added a time of 7.24 for 12th.
Distance
Dickinson sent a large contingent to the track for the 5000m with the duo of
Brock Overlander and
Luke Knestout nabbing seventh (15:20.71) and ninth (15:25.08) respectively.
Matthew Dietrick and
Mason Macek stayed within the Top-20 by grabbing 15th (15:37.36) and 19th (15:47.60).
William Kane (23rd - 16:06.47) and
Avi Ghorai (27th - 16:44.03) also competed in the race.
Relays
Dickinson would take another win on the day during the 4x200m with the team of Akabi-During, Crim, Hollinger and O'Connor posting a new school record of 1:29.91. The Red Devil relay record setting continued during the 4x800m as the unit of
Atticus Fair,
James Masterson,
Trevor Richwine and
Jeremy Sallade hitting the line in 7:53.49.Â
The distance medley crew of
Nathan Caldwell,
Ian Gormley,
Nolan Meincke and Richwine claimed third with a mark of 10:20.84.
Field
Oliver Stroka finished off the podium for the weight thanks to a toss of 15.10m.
Evan Feldman nabbed 14th in the triple jump by dropping in at 11.52m.
Special Event
Through four of seven events in the heptathlon
Josh Penny sits in eighth places on 1811 points.
