CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's lacrosse team dug themselves out of an early 5-1 hole to take a 6-5 lead on Saturday afternoon over the visiting Swarthmore College. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Garnet scored five of the final six goals to earn a 10-7 Centennial Conference win at Biddle Field.
- The Devils were on the attack early with Faith Parker and Sage Whiteside asking questions out of Brooke Carrier, while Carson Cerow just missed over the crossbar.
- After each side gave the ball away, each keeper was called upon with Peyton VanDorpe denying Claire Long and Carrier shutting down Cerow as the game remained scoreless with 6:06 gone.
- Less than a minute later it was the Garnet on the board when Isabela Bloomquist found the back of the next, before Aubree Daugherty cashed in a couple minutes later to make it 2-0.
- Delaney Herbert and Jillian McNulty tallied the final two DC shots of the frame with Carrier recording one more stop to keep the margin at two going to the second.
- Both Carrier and VanDorpe were tasked with making an early stop against Cerow and Elizabeth Zack respectively.
- The home side then finally cracked Carrier at the 3:12 mark with Grace Kelly finding Caroline Cavendish for the finish.
- Unfortunately, for Dickinson the Garnet struck on their next two shots thanks to Long and Bloomquist to push the lead to 4-1 with not even five minutes gone.
- Following another Carrier stop against Parker, Daugherty added another making it 5-1 with 10:09 gone.
- However, offerings from Jenna Nowland, Meghan McDonald and Ali Broome accounted for the final three shots with Broome and McDonald solving Carrier to cut the deficit down to 5-3 entering halftime.
- Dickinson used the opening five minutes to find the net three times. First, off a draw control win from Whiteside, Nowland connected with Parker for a finish. Then, after Mia Seergae jarred the ball free from Love, the ball found the stick of Nowland who beat the goalie to level things at 5-5. The Red and White then claimed their first lead of the day when Parker forced the turnover and cashed in at the other end for a 6-5 edge.
- The home side kept on firing away toward Carrier's net recording four of the next five shots with Carrier collecting two more stops.
- That would allow Daugherty to best VanDorpe again to send the game to the fourth locked up 6-6.
- Swarthmore rode the momentum of the late third period marker to a trio of tallies inside the opening five minutes to reclaim a 9-6 lead.
- Carrier then made sure that would stand up for her team as she beat away chances from Marnie Todd and Whiteside, while Long ripped a free-position shot to the back of the cage bumping it up to 10-6.
- The Red and White picked up a power play marker to cap off the scoring out of the stick of Nowland off a feed by Cavendish (10-7).
