CARLISLE, Pa. - The 16th-ranked and second seeded Dickinson men's lacrosse team booked their fourth consecutive trip to the Centennial Conference Tournament championship game with an 11-8 semifinal win over the third seed Swarthmore College on Friday afternoon in front of a raucous crowd at Biddle Field.
- Both keepers were tested early as both Ethan Gess and Landen Hyatt were shutdown by Drew Tyson, while Rocco Bognet had an answer for Owen Hoffman and Rex Mabbs.
- With six minutes off the clock, Tyson stopped Ramsey Huggins but then turnovers caused by Jack Deady and Evan Karetsos resulted in Sam Bunten connecting with Huggins for the opening goal three minutes later.
- Swarthmore needed just over 60-seconds to draw even when Ryder Maston solved Bognet.
- A faceoff win for Ben Trucksess led to a shot by Owen Porter which sailed wide, but Cullen Mulhern came back with an unassisted marker making it 2-1. About 90-seconds after that Preston Boyd linked up with Hyatt for a 3-1 with exactly 13 minutes gone.
- The Garnet tallied the ensuing three shots with Bognet denying Ronan Butler, before Emmett Harris cut the gap to 3-2 heading to the second.
- Dickinson pushed the margin to 4-2 at the 2:12 mark when Porter hit Boyd, who stuck the ball past Tyson.
- Following chances from Hyatt, Mulhern and Porter that went wide, Bognet saved a pair of offerings for Mabbs.
- Swarthmore continued to push offensively recording five straight shots tasking Bognet into one stop as the game entered the last four minutes.
- Shots from both Boyd and Hyatt missed the mark, allowing Hoffman and Hardiman to strike for the guests to knot the score at 4-4 going to half.
- Dickinson began the period by adding onto their lead with Gess finding Hyatt for the strike and the 5-4 edge with 12:43 remaining.
- Two minutes later, Karetsos popped the ball free from Maston which gave Deady the chance to get the loose ball giving Gess the chance to hit Huggins making it 6-4.
- After each goalie made a stop, Danny Lowe struck on a man-up opportunity (6-5) at the 6:48 mark.
- A save from Tyson on Porter led to the Garnet taking three consecutive shots with Lowe finishing off a dish from Hardiman (6-6).
- The two sides shared the ensuing eight shots, until Porter found a cutting Gess to make it 7-6 with 15 minutes remaining.
- Another Tyson stop set the stage for a Garnet tally this time through Emmett Harris with 2:24 off the clock.
- Off a faceoff win for Matthew Martinez, Bognet shutdown Hoffman to keep it tied, before Porter connected with Hyatt for a strong stepdown bullet to claim an 8-7 lead.
- Dickinson opened the gap to 9-7 over a minute later as Capp Reynolds scooped up the faceoff and got the rock to Huggins who made a nice dodge and bested Tyson.
- Swarthmore did not go quietly, however, as Hardiman pulled the Garnet within 9-8 at the 7:53 mark.
