PENFIELD, N.Y. - Junior men's golfer
Collin McMahon-Shea returned to action on Wednesday morning to take part in Round Two of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Midvale Country Club hoping to secure an opportunity to play in the final two rounds on Thursday and Friday.
McMahon-Shea opened up his round on the third hole posting a par on the par five, 544-yard hole. He then followed with a bogey, before ripping off a trio of pars to keep himself at plus-one through five. Back-to-back bogeys would put a slight damper on things, but a birdie on the par five, 487-yard tenth and three consecutive pars sent him to the 14th just one over where he was coming into the day. Unfortunately, a rough five hole stretch going from the 14th to the 18th left him with two holes left. A bogey on the first and a par a hole later gave him a final score of 78 on the 6558-yard, par 72 course.
Illinois Wesleyan enters the third round with a team total of 595 to hold a two-stroke lead on both Kenyon and Huntingdon. Bethel's Will Karkoc (-6) possesses a three-shot edge on Lynchburg's Edward Coffren (-3) and four-shot advantage over Kevin Mu (-2).
