Devils Fantastic Season Ends in Semifinal Loss to Top-Seeded Garnet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - After advancing to the Centennial Conference Semifinals for the first time in nine years after beating fourth seed Washington College on Wednesday. The fifth-seeded Dickinson women's tennis team saw their season come to a head on Friday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to the top seed Swarthmore College on the Faulkner Courts.

Doubles (Garnet 2-0)
The second pair of Alisa Steele and Loretta Szych were not able to get a game off of Erin Li and Kathleen Shiffer falling by a score of 0-6. Swarthmore then clinched the doubles point with Riya Rao and Ella Strickler bringing down the Izzy Desjardins-Chloe Heller tandem 1-6. Since the match is played just to clinch the top flight battle between Jenna Crain-Natasha Sharnoff and Lola-Diaz-Nathalie Williams was abandoned with the score knotted at 3-3.

Singles (Garnet 3-0)
The home side opened the lead to 2-0 thanks to a win at six as Madeline Posner knocked off Anabelle Armednarez by scores of 2-6, 0-6. They then moved within a point of securing the match with Strickler limiting Heller to just one game during a 0-6, 1-6 win. The match-clinching point came courtesy of Lisa Messier who bested Szych on the five line (2-6, 0-6). Matches featuring Crain (1st), Steele (2nd) and Sharnoff (3rd) were all left unfinished after the winner had been determined. Had things continued Dickinson would have had a chance at the top two flights as Crain was tied with Williams 6-6 in the first, while Steele held a slim 6-5 cushion also in the first.
