LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson women's tennis team continued a memorable season on Thursday afternoon by having four players garner All-Conference recognition as announced by the league office. Sophomore
Jenna Crain was named to the First Team for singles, while junior
Alisa Steele was chosen to the Second Team for singles. The doubles pair of first-year
Natasha Sharnoff and Crain received Second Team honors as well. First-year
Chloe Heller was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
First Team Singles
Crain, the native of Reisterstown, Maryland, was outstanding in her second season with the Red and White posting a fantastic record of 11-2 to earn her First Team slot. She collected all 11 of her wins in straight sets playing at the number one spot. Her only losses came to nationally-ranked Haverford College and Swarthmore College. However, she did earn victories over nationally-ranked opponents Sweet Briar College defeating Juli Caracciolo (6-1, 6-1) and Jenna Harrison from Franklin & Marshall College (6-1, 6-2). She also nabbed a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins against Pfeiffer University and Muhlenberg College.Â
Second Team Singles
Steele, the resident of York, Pennsylvania, had a strong year as well going 9-6 playing across two spots in the ladder. She went 8-4 as the Devils primary number two, but also tallied three matches at number one going 1-2. Much like Crain, none of her triumphs saw a decisive third set and only one set during the year even needed a tiebreak where she took a 7-5 win in a first set tiebreak riding it to a win over nationally-ranked Sweet Briar. Steele also had a win against ranked rival Franklin & Marshall, in addition to having a three-match win streak against conference foes Bryn Mawr College, Ursinus College and Gettysburg College from April 1st to April 9th. Her lone top flight win came on March 23rd when she took down Bri Serruto from York College of Pennsylvania (6-1, 6-2).
Second Team Doubles
Sharnoff, arrived in Carlisle back in the fall by way of Medford, New Jersey, and was immediately put together with Crain to form the Devils top doubles pair. The duo went 9-6 on the season, including a 4-4 mark inside the Centennial Conference. The dynamic duo collected wins against ranked Sweet Briar and Franklin & Marshall, as well as had three separate times during the season where they grabbed back-to-back wins.Â
