Projected Match-Ups
Thoughts from Devils senior captain, Izzy Desjardins
- How proud are you of the team for the win over WAC?
- Proud is an understatement. We fought for every point and every match with heart and determination. Players who lost to their WAC opposition during the regular season came back stronger and won, and our doubles chemistry was electric. I have never seen so much joy and unity from our team-what can I say, we love to win.
- What is the focus heading into the matchup with top seed Swarthmore?
- Heading into this match our focus needs to be on trusting ourselves and our game. We have played this team before, and we have trained hard every day to face this exact kind of challenge. After our performance against WAC, we are stronger, more connected and more confident than ever. It is about bringing that same energy and belief onto the court giving it our all and seeing what happens.
Thoughts from Devils Head Coach, Cole Sutton
- How proud are you of the team for the win over WAC?
- This was a true team win, and I am incredibly proud of this group finding a way to get it done. It shows how far we have come since we lost to them in March, especially that we were on the way to winning at each singles spot that we lost the first time around. This team continues to play with a maturity beyond their years. The last two on the court in third sets were first-years, and they both came through for the team in tense moments.
- What is the focus heading into the matchup with top seed Swarthmore?
- We know how strong and deep this Swarthmore team is, and we are excited to take on this challenge for a second time this season. They have been dominant in conference all year long, so we know we have nothing to lose and everything to gain heading into this matchup. We are going to focus on what we can control and compete the same way we have all season long and give it our best shot.
