Summer Check-In
Describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.
I am helping with the growth of my intern mentor Ed Tell’s (Class of 1991) new business venture, Suite Life Studios. We are preparing to launch a new commercial real estate leasing concept in downtown Phoenixville, PA that will feature a RAZRBAR Barbershop as a key business partner.
What made this experience appealing to you?
As a first time intern and not much work experience, this experience gives me hands-on exposure to real estate, marketing, and business development by helping grow Suite Life Studios from the ground up. I am building valuable skills in communication, outreach, and entrepreneurship while making real connections with small business owners.
How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?
This experience supports my aspiration to become a business owner in the future. By working close with Ed Tell and helping launch Suite Life Studios, I am learning what it takes to build and grow a business from finding the right tenants to marketing a brand, and managing operations. In addition, I want to learn about the challenges and strategies behind running a successful and continue to build on the skills that I have learned during school.
How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?
Throughout my career, I have developed discipline, teamwork, and the ability to stay focused during any circumstance. All of these skills are necessary for this role. Leading on the court has taught me how to communicate effectively, motivate my teammates, and go through the trials and tribulations of staying committed to a shared goal. These experiences have prepared me to be able to build relationships with potential tenants and contribute to the growth of Suite Life Studios.
Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?
I am looking forward to playing and exploring Italy with my teammates throughout the beginning of August.
