Summer Check-In

Where are you working/interning this summer? Company and Location.

This summer I am interning at the Big 12 Conference in Dallas, Texas.

Please describe your day-to-day responsibilities in this position.

As a Football Operations and Competition Intern, I assist both teams with daily operations such as creating ticket sheets to track corporate partners hospitality benefits, updating spreadsheets with original and renewed partnership contract information, auditing meetings, updating the conferences officiating database for each game in the upcoming season, and compiling contact information for prospective partners.

The biggest event of the summer for the Big 12 was our Media Days at The Star. In preparation for this I worked alongside various departments to schedule and organize opportunities for all 16 of the conference’s football programs coaches and star players to speak with major media rights partners ESPN, FOX, as well as news publication outlets like The Athletic.

What made this experience appealing to you?

This experience was made appealing to me by my fascination with the sports industry, specifically college football and basketball. Having the opportunity to contribute to the behind-the-scenes efforts that make game days memorable for fan bases at a Power Four conference was an opportunity I had only dreamt of.

How does this experience relate to your career or life aspirations? What are you looking to personally get out of it?

This experience relates to my career and life aspirations by providing me with foundational experience to thrive in an industry and field that I am passionate about. I am looking to strengthen my understanding of the business that drives sports, expand my network, and learn the vernacular used in the industry.

How has your athletics career prepared you for this role?

My athletics career has prepared me for this role by teaching me resiliency, discipline, time management skills, and leadership. As a student-athlete myself, it is easy for me to put myself in the shoes of the Big 12’s student-athletes and contribute to making their collegiate athletics careers special.

What are you looking forward to for this upcoming year for your sport?

This upcoming year, I am looking forward to leading the 2025-26 Red Devil Lacrosse team alongside my 12 best friends (fellow seniors). I cannot wait to contribute to chasing new heights, breaking boundaries, and continuing to build Dickinson’s brand and presence as one of the elite lacrosse programs and institutions across all of Division III and the lacrosse world. I am grateful for one more year to play the sport I love and develop as a player and person under Coach Webster.

Is there anything else you are looking forward to this summer outside of this experience?

This summer, outside of this experience, I am excited to explore Dallas, foster new relationships, and visit friends and family.
