COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the first time in at least 20 years the Dickinson field hockey program has accomplished a feat that has eluded the Red and White as they are now ranked 25th in the nation by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association with the release of the newest coaches poll on Tuesday morning.
The Red Devils currently sit at 5-0 and are enjoying one of the best starts in recent program history as they have picked up wins against then No. 9 Messiah, Virginia Wesleyan, Catholic, Susquehanna and Juniata. The defense led by senior duo
Natalie Slusser and
Calyn Clements has been a key reason why Dickinson has gotten off to a hot start as they have only conceded one goal on the campaign. A balanced offensive attack has also been vital as
Nicole Uebele,
Maggie Carson,
Alexandra Hockwitt,
Gillian Rosenstock and
Megan McClure all have multiple goals on the season, while goaltending tandem of
Taylor Morrow and
Kayla Capuzzi have combined to make 14 saves and have racked up four shutouts.Â
Dickinson will attempt to make another big statement tomorrow afternoon at 4pm when they welcome tenth-ranked Shenandoah University to the Biddle Field Complex for a non-conference tilt.
