SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Dickinson volleyball team hit .300 or better in two sets and got double-digit kills from both
Amelia Kim and
Mallie Thomas en route to a 3-0 non-conference win over the host Susquehanna University inside of Houts Gymnasium.
First Set
- Things were tight early as a kill each by Jessica Currie, Kim and Thomas had DC ahead 6-3.
- The trio of Kyndall Mason, Valerie Stoltz and Emma Willow put together a 6-3 spurt to knot things up 9-9.
- Dickinson then began to distance themselves as two Thomas kills and blocks by Emery Fishbach, Eliette Whittaker, Currie and Kim aided an 8-1 outburst to jump ahead 17-10.
- Addison Dodge, Mason and Stoltz kept on fighting for the River Hawks as they got within 21-18.
- One kill from Currie, Kim and Whittaker helped the Red and White to finish off the set 25-21.
Second Set
- An ace and kill for Thomas along with score by Kim had the visitors in front 5-4.
- Two aces put down by Amanda Palo as well as a solo for Avery Butcher and kills landed from Camille Dofiles, Currie, Kim and Thomas led to Dickinson taking a 17-8 advantage.
- The sides traded the next eight points to leave DC up 21-12 on a Thomas kill.
- Susquehanna tried to stay alive taking advantage of three Devils miscues and a kill by Mason to make it 22-16.
- However, an error and a kill each for Currie and Thomas claimed the second 25-17.
Third Set
- Things were tight early with the score at 4-4, before Lora Flynn, Kim and Whittaker helped DC jump in front 6-4.
- Then, the River Hawks got points from Elliott Schleicher and Stoltz during a 9-3 romp to take a 13-9 lead.
- Dickinson then got back on the right track with kills put home by Currie, Flynn, Kim and Whittaker bringing the Red and White back to level terms at 17-17.
- Susquehanna came charging right back as kills for Katelyn Dugery, Stella Robinson and Mason made it 22-20 SU.
- Kills by Kim and Whittaker pulled DC to within 23-22, before Robinson drilled a kill to put SU on the cusp of the set 24-22.
- However, the Devils racked up the next four points thanks to Palo, Thomas and Whittaker taking the match 26-24.
