CARLISLE, Pa. — The Dickinson women's tennis team continued a strong start to the season by earning a 5-2 victory over the visiting Messiah University on Saturday afternoon at the Hays Tennis Courts.
Doubles (Devils 3-0)
Doubles set the tone as the Red and White claimed two of three matches to build early momentum. The No. 1 pairing of Natasha Sharnoff and Merve Uyumazturk produced a tight 7-5 triumph over Kiara Bomboy and Kylie Walker that would prove to be pivotal. At No. 2, Chloe Heller and Loretta Szych secured the point with a 6-2 victory over Susan Arp and Bella Heckman, while Dickinson's No. 3 duo of Alisa Steele and Anabel Romero Gemmll held off Katelyn Good and Izzy Ipri 6-2 to seal doubles superiority.
Singles (Devils 4-2)
The singles slate featured a pair of commanding straight-set wins at the top of the lineup. Alisa Steele delivered a strong performance at No. 1 singles, shutting out Bomboy 6-1, 6-0, before at No. 3, Heller mirrored that efficiency with a 6-0, 6-0 result over Walker. Messiah battled back in the middle of the order with Good edging out Lindquist 7-5, 6-1 in the five spot to give the Falcons life. However, on the other side of the net, Dickinson's Szych produced another DC triumph on the four line by knocking off Heckman (6-3, 6-1). The two late matches saw Uyumazturk fall to Arp (7-6, 3-6, 10-12), while Romero Gemmell knocked off Ipri in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) at number six.
