LANCASTER, Pa. - For the second time this season the now 20th-ranked Dickinson field hockey team has swept the weekly Centennial Conference awards as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. Junior forward
Megan McClure was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while senior defender
Natalie Slusser earned the Defensive Player of the Week recognition.
McClure, a native of Levittown, Pennsylvania, led the Red Devils to a 2-0 week with four goals in victories over 10th-ranked Shenandoah and DeSales. In Wednesday's 5-1 win over the 10th-ranked Hornets, McClure scored in the 33rd and 36th minutes as the Red Devils scored thrice in just a three-minute span to break open the game. Her first goal eventually proved to be the game-winner. She then closed out the week with two goals on just two shots in a 5-0 shutout win over DeSales on Saturday.Â
Slusser, a resident of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, was a massive reason for the Red and White's 2-0 week, as Wednesday in the win over Shenandoah, she spearheaded a defensive unit that allowed just six shots (two on goal). She also contributed the assist on the eventual game-winning goal. On Saturday, she closed the week by leading a Dickinson backline that surrendered just three shots (one on goal) to DeSales in a 5-0 shutout victory. Â
The Red Devils are back in action on Wednesday night at 7pm when they make the short drive to Annville for a non-conference tilt against Lebanon Valley College.
