SALISBURY, Md. - The eighth-ranked Dickinson men's soccer team got first half markers from
Saul Iwowo and
Westin Fryberger en route to claiming their first victory of the 2025 campaign 2-0 over the host Salisbury University at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
First Half
- It took just under three minutes for the Red and White to take a 1-0 lead as goalkeeper Clif Nehman went to clear the ball out of his box, but Saul Iwowo came charging in and blocked the kick allowing the ball to skip into the net.
- The next five plus minutes ticked off the clock with no offense until Jacob Rarig fired one towards frame which Devils keeper Nick Potter was able to bat away.
- Dickinson attempted to extend the lead during the 14th-minute when Johnny Diederich had his shot pushed off the line by Nehman.
- Salisbury would have the next shot, fortunately it did not bother Potter. The ensuing DC possession saw the visitors take a 2-0 lead when a nice break down the right-wing by Luke Finkielstein led to a cross in the box to Iwowo who touched it off quick to Westin Fryberger for the finish at the 22:47 mark.
- The Sea Gulls took two of the final three shots of the half, but could not solve Potter while at the other end Iwowo was shutdown by Nehman to send the match to the break.
Second Half
- Both sides tested the keepers within the first five minutes as Timi Omoniwa was stopped by Nehman, while new DC keeper Gavin Marr told Gavin Miller no as well.
- The Sea Gulls then recorded the next four shots with only one of them forcing Marr into a save during the 67th minute.
- Dickinson's next opportunity came a minute later with Parker Kiey whizzing one high right.
- Following a chance for David Brunetti that went off target, Darian Crim was kept from making it 3-0 just under eight minutes from full time by Nehman as the match would go on to finish at 2-0.
