FB - Devils Sweep CC Players of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. - Following a dramatic 54-51 overtime victory over Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, the Dickinson football team swept all three Centennial Conference weekly honors as junior running back Dane Sorensen was named Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore safety Jimmy Mulholland earned Defensive Player of the Week and first-year kicker Hudson Reese collected Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Sorensen earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after putting together another standout performance for the Red Devils. The Bridgewater, New Jersey native carried the ball 22 times for 178 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 8.1 yards per carry, while also hauling in five passes for 48 yards. Sorensen found the end zone on a nine-yard run during the second quarter before breaking loose for a 75-yard touchdown on Dickinson's first play from scrimmage in the third. On the play, Sorensen broke four tackles, including two hits behind the line of scrimmage, before racing to the end zone. The junior now owns three touchdown runs of 75 yards or more this season.

On the defensive side, Mulholland played a pivotal role in helping Dickinson hand Carnegie Mellon its first conference loss of the season. The Gaithersburg, Maryland native recorded a team-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, while also adding one tackle for loss and an interception. His biggest contribution came with just 19 seconds remaining in regulation when he blocked a 44-yard Carnegie Mellon field goal attempt. The block kept Dickinson within three points and gave the Red Devils the opportunity to drive into field goal range for the game-tying kick.

Reese completed the weekly sweep after delivering in several pressure-filled moments for Dickinson. The Charlottesville, Virginia native went a perfect 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts and 2-for-2 on field goals. Reese connected from 26 yards during the second quarter before drilling a season-long 43-yard field goal as time expired in regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Dickinson went on to score a touchdown during the opening overtime period before securing the 54-51 victory.

The Red Devils will look to build on the dramatic road win when they return to action on Saturday at Ursinus.
