Men's Track and Field Travels to Messiah, Bucknell

Trevor Richwine wins 800m in Lewisburg

The Dickinson men's track and field team had a busy week at both the Messiah Invite in Grantham and the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg. Events at Messiah started on Thursday and concluded today, and the Red Devils finished seventh overall with 42 points. Meanwhile in Lewisburg, senior Trevor Richwine won the 800m and ran the current No. 1 time in Division III this season. On Sunday, both Franklyn Akabi-During and the 4x400m Relay team broke school records and ran top times in the division.  

Messiah Invite
Track
  • Senior Alex Kane notched a great second-place finish in the 5000m, clocking a time of 15:13.31. Sophomore Matthew Colden placed 19th overall in 17:12.99.
  • In the 10000m, junior Mason Macek finished second overall with a great time of 32:28.51. First-year Jacob Sokatch placed eighth with a time of 34:04.83 and sophomore Edward Liszka took 15th in 34:45.56.
  • First-year Maximus Fite took 11th place in the 400m, recording a time of 51.18. 
  • Sophomore Atticus Fair competed in the 800m, earning eighth-place overall with a great 2:00.90 performance. First-year Griffin McConville also competed, taking 16th place with a time of 2:03.52. First-year Alexander Radishofski placed 24th in 2:04.43, and first-year Landen Springer was not far behind with a 27th place, 2:04.77 finish. 
  • In the 1500m, senior Ben Moseman recorded a great fourth place finish with a time of 4:10.61. Behind him in fifth place was Fair, clocking a time of 4:11.34. McConnville took ninth place in 4:16 even, and first-year Quinn Chewning took 16th in 4:18.94. Sophomore Avi Ghorai finished in 20th overall, recording a rime of 4:21.10. 
  • The Decathlon featured first-year Dylan Elder, starting in the 400m with a strong eighth place, 56.11 finish. Elder continued the decathlon in the 110m Hurdles, clocking a time of 18.39 to take sixth place overall. He continued in the 1500m, recording a great third-place finish with a time of 5:03.38. 
  • Representing the 4x400m Relay was Fite, Walker Crochet, Sean Harris, and Radishofski with a sixth place, 8:41.86 finish. 
Field
  • Sophomore Oliver Stroka earned another win in hammer, recording a mark of 54.10m. 
  • In the Pole Vault decathlon, Elder finished in ninth place with a mark of 3.05m. Overall, the first-year finished 11th in the decathlon. 
  • First-year Dan Echeverri competed in shot put, throwing a distance of 11.68m to finish 32nd. He continued to take 43rd in discus with a mark of 33.51m.
  • Damon Buchanan had a great showing in javelin, taking seventh overall with a mark of 53.92m. Echeverri finished in 24th place with a 46.23m toss. 

Bison Outdoor Classic
  • Senior Trevor Richwine won the 800m at Bucknell, recording a great time of 1:48.49. The performance currently ranks No. 1 in Division III this season, and is just short of his school record of 1:48.31. First-year Michael Dooley recorded a strong 1:54.58 finish to place 47th in a field of over 150 competitors. Senior Matthew Gareau also competed, finishing 77th with a time of 1:56.25. 
  • Franklyn Akabi-During had a strong second place performance in the 100m, finishing with a time of 10.57.
  • He continued in the 200m, breaking a school and conference record with a time of 21.08 to take third place. The time currently sits in the Top 20 of Division III. 
  • Sophomore Darian Crim competed in the 400m, finishing in 17th place with a time of 49.17.
  • First-year Owen Seveland had a great sixth-place finish in the 400m Hurdles, running a Top 50 time in the division of 54.03. 
  • In the 3000m Steeplechase, junior Nate Caldwell clocked a time of 9:27.78 to place 23rd overall. 
  • The 5000m featured sophomore Luke Knestout recording a time of 14:47.60 to take 31st.
  • Gareau, Richwine, Akabi-During, and Crim broke the school record in the 4x400m Relay with a time of 3:14.38. The finish was good for second overall and is currently the fifth-best time in Division III.

Next, the team will compete at the Shippensburg Midweek Invite on Thursday, April 16 at 3 p.m.
