BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Dickinson men's track and field team had a fantastic weekend at the Moravian Coach Pollard Invitational. The Red Devils had great performances all around, including
Franklyn Akabi-During breaking both school and conference records in the 100m.
Sprints
- Sophomore Franklyn Akabi-During captured the win in the 100m prelims, clocking a time of 10.50. He went on to win in finals as well, posting a time of 10.41 to set records for both Dickinson and the Centennial Conference.Â
- The 400m featured sophomore Darian Crim taking fourth place with a time of 48.62. In 20th place was Maximus Fite with a 50.22 finish.
- In the 400m Hurdles, first-year Owen Seveland took second overall with a great time of 55.17.Â
- Senior Jason Hollinger competed in the 200m, placing 11th overall in 22.30.Â
Distance
- Dickinson dominated the 5000m, taking two of the top-three spots. Sophomore Luke Knestout was victorious, winning in 15:02.62. In second was senior Alexander Kane with a strong 15:07.88 performance. First-year Jacob Sokatch had a strong 16:05.98 performance for 12th overall.
- First-year Quinn Chewning earned a strong eighth place finish in the 3000m Steeple, posting a time of 10:24.55. Sophomore Matthew Colden placed 16th overall with a 10:46.43 finish.Â
- In the 1500m, junior Nathan Caldwell finished seventh overall with a great time of 3:59.17. Sophomore Atticus Fair placed 15th with a 4:09.52 performance.Â
- Multiple Red Devils earned top finishes in the 800m, led by first-year Michael Dooley in third with a time of 1:54.98. Senior Matthew Gareau was not far behind in sixth place, clocking a time of 1:56.89. In 13th place was senior James Masterson, recording a 1:58.71 finish. Sophomore Atticus Fair placed 24th overall with a 2:00.82 run.Â
Relays
- The 4x100m Relay team of Crim, Jason Hollinger, Seveland, and Akabi-During took third place with a strong time of 41.88.Â
- Gareau, Seveland, Fite, and Dooley ran in the 4x400m Relay and earned a great third-place finish with a time of 3:21.01.Â
Field
- In hammer, sophomore Oliver Stroka notched a solid fourth place finish with a mark of 54.12m.Â
- He also competed in the discus championship finals, taking 18th place with a 37.72m throw.Â
- The discus featured first-year Dan Echeverri placing eighth overall with a 33.62m toss.Â
- Sophomore Damon Buchanan placed sixth overall in javelin with a great 53.24m performance. Echeverri finished in 14th place with a mark of 48.25m.Â
Up Next
The team returns to Shippensburg University next weekend on April 24 and 25 for the Paul Kaiser Classic. Events are set to start at 1 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.Â
