LANCASTER, Pa. - For the second time this season sophomore face-off specialist
Ryan Backus has been recognized by the Centennial Conference office for his strong play as he was tabbed the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.
Backus, the native of Fairfield, Connecticut, went 10-of-16 at the face-off X with five ground balls, one goal and one caused turnover in the 17-5 conference win over Muhlenberg that clinched the No. 1 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the Red Devils. In the eight-goal third quarter, three of his wins resulted in immediate goals for the Red and White on the ensuing possession, including one for himself.Â
The Red Devils return to action on Thursday afternoon at 4pm when they host either Muhlenberg or Swarthmore in a Centennial Conference Semifinal on the Biddle Field turf.
