College men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with a 12-5 win over
visiting Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon. |
The Red Devils jumped out early, taking a 4-0 lead in the
opening quarter as Ted Sirvaitis (Greenwich,
Conn./Greenwich) tallied two goals
and Chris Dodson (Bethesda,
Md/Landon) dished out a pair of assists.
Brendan O'Brien (Garden City,
N.Y./Chaminade) put Dickinson in front 5-0 before the
Warriors answered with back-to-back goals.
Dodson broke up a four-goal run, scoring at the 4:39 mark of the
second quarter. He handed out an assist to Sam
Abramson (Alexandria, Va./Potomac) to give the Devils
a 7-4 advantage at halftime.
The Red Devils tightened the defense in the second half, holding
the Warriors to just one goal after the break.
Dodson struck again and sophomore Ward Gruppo
(Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) stretched the
margin to 9-4 with the only tallies in the third period.
Ethan Payne scored his second of the day at the 12:43 mark to
start the fourth quarter. Senior goaltender Tyler
Magann (Easton, Pa./The Hill School) and the Red
Devil defense shut the door at that point while the Devils tacked
on three more goals in the final period.
Sirvaitis added a man-down goal and fed Richard
Craft (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal) to close out
the scoring for the game.
Dodson led the charge with two goals and three assists.
Sirvaitis finished with three goals and one assist. Abramson
tallied twice on the day as well.
Al Golod (Huntington, N.Y./Cold Spring
Harbor) controlled five ground balls
while Chris Breslin (Garden City, N.Y./Garden
City)picked-up four on the day and caused a pair of
turnovers.
Magann made 12 saves in goal for the Red Devils, stopping six
shots in the fourth quarter.
Mike Doherty led Lycoming (1-1) with six ground balls, winning
16-of-21 face-offs. Alan Antinarelli made 12 saves for the
Warriors.
The Red Devils improve to 3-0 on the season. They are home again
on Saturday, hosting Montclair State University at 2:00 pm.
