(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College baseball team suffered a 9-3 Centennial Conference loss to
visiting Gettysburg on Wednesday afternoon. |
The Red Devils received a strong start from
junior Evan Fitzpatrick (Ithaca,

in the first inning.
Dickinson capitalized on a pair of Bullet errors to take a 2-0
lead in the bottom of the third inning. Mike Schuster
(Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) reached on an error and
scored off the bat of Evan Farha (Potomac, Md./Winston
Churchill) to put the Devils on the board.
Sophomore Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth,
N.J./Ridge) singled and scored on a single by
classmate Andrew Sterling (Houston,
Texas/Episcopal) to make the score 2-0 at the end of
the third.
The Bullets took advantage of three singles and a Devil miscue
to score three runs in the fifth inning. They tacked on two more in
the sixth to stretch the lead to 5-2.
Dickinson answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth when
sophomore Matt Tuneski (Waterford,
Conn./Waterford) reached on an error and scored on a
sacrifice fly by junior Bart Marchant (Lakeville,
Conn./Hotchkiss).
Gettysburg added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings,
and tacked on a pair in the ninth for the final of 9-3.
Fitzpatrick finished the day with eight strikeouts in six
innings of work. Sciambi went 2-for-5 while Sterling drove in a run
behind a 2-for-4 afternoon. Marchant added a double for the Red
Devils.
