(Haverford, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College baseball team dropped a pair of games at
Haverford on Saturday. The 'Fords posted a 6-2 win in the opener
and claimed the nightcap, 12-2. |
Evan Farha (Potomac,
Md./Churchill) singled and scored on an RBI
by Matt Tuneski (Waterford,
Conn./Waterford) to put the Devils up 1-0 in the
second inning of game one.
Haverford answered with a lone run in the bottom of the inning
and pulled in front 2-1 in the third. The Devils tied the game in
the fourth as Tuneski drove in Ben Sciambi (Port
Monmouth, N.J./Ridge).
Jake Chaplin drove in two of Haverford's three runs in the
bottom of the fourth and Mike Galetta added one with a homerun in
the sixth for the final of 6-2.
Sophomore Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses
Brown) went 2-for-3 in game one.
Classmate Sean White (Summit, N.J./Salisbury
School) suffered the loss on the mound, despite a
solid effort with eight strikeouts.
Dickinson struck early again in the second game
as Andrew Sterling (Houston,
Texas/Episcopal) singled and scored off the bat of
Farha in the first inning.
Haverford would again answer in the second, scoring once and
adding another in the fourth to lead, 2-1.
The 'Fords tallied a pair of unearned runs in the fourth before
a six-run fifth stretched the margin to 10-1. Junior Bobby Bailey
did most of the damage with a three-run double.
Sterling, Farha and Tuneski all went 2-for-4 in the nightcap, as
did junior Bart Marchant (Lakeville,
Conn./Hotchkiss). Horan took the loss on the hill,
recording five strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Red Devils (6-19, 3-9) travel to Muhlenberg on Tuesday for a
3:30 start against the Mules.
