Strong Start, Solid Offense Leads Mules Past Devils

(Allentown, Pa.) - The Dickinson College baseball team ran into an explosive Muhlenberg offense on Tuesday, falling in Allentown, 26-3.

 

The Mules erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and would add 11 in the fifth, sparked by a three-run homer by catcher Clint Lynch.

 

The Red Devils capitalized on a Muhlenberg error to score a pair of runs in the sixth. Tyler Rosa' (Carmel by the Sea, Calif./Stevenson School) led the Devils with a pair of RBIs, going 2-for-4 on the day.

 

Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth, N.J./Ridge) added an RBI double in the sixth, scoring Mike Vidal (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows). Vidal went 1-for-1 with two runs scored.

 

The Mules (13-14, 7-6) managed 23 hits in the game, led by Lynch who finished 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored. Mike Speroni improved to 3-0 on the mound, going five innings and recording four strikeouts.

 

The Red Devils slip to 6-20 overall and 3-10 in the Centennial Conference. Dickinson will host the Mules on Friday at MacPhail Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
