| (Gettysburg, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College baseball team used some heavy bats to post a 12-4
win at Gettysburg on Friday, splitting the series, 1-1. |
Sophomore Tyler Rosa' (Carmel by the Sea,
Calif./Stevenson School) started things off with a
three-run homer in the top of the first to put the Devils on the
board early in the game.
The Devils used a pair of doubles from
sophomore Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses
Brown) and junior Evan Farha (Potomac,
Md./Winston Churchill) to add a two runs in the third
inning to put Dickinson in front 5-1.
The Bullets added two runs in the third and another in the
fourth to cut the deficit to 5-4. The Devils capitalized on an
error in the fifth to push across a couple of insurance runs and
erupted for five in the top of seventh for a 12-5 lead.
Rosa' doubled and immediately came around on a triple
fromAndrew Sterling (Houston,
Texas/Episcopal in the big seventh inning.
Rosa went 3-for-5 on the day with five RBIs and two runs scored.
Horan was 3-for-4 with and RBI, scoring four runs. Sterling added
an RBI in the fifth, giving him three for the game.
First-year Andrew Mauro (Washington,
D.C./Mercersburg)turned in a solid performance on the
mound to earn the win. He struck out four Bullets, allowing just
three earned runs and surrendering three walks in 7.1 innings.
Senior Brett Friedman (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D.
Schreiber) came on in relief, recording three
strikeouts in just 1.2 innings of work to close out the game.
Mike Backus and Cam Riera each went 3-for-5 to lead Gettysburg
(9-10, 1-4).
The Red Devils (5-14, 2-4) return home to host Ursinus College
in a double-header at MacPhail Field on Saturday. First pitch is
set for 12:30 pm.
