Dickinson College baseball team suffered a 17-7 loss at #7-ranked
Shenandoah University on Wednesday night. |
The Hornets showed why they are ranked in the top 10, scoring
six runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Sophomore Matt Tuneski (Waterford,
Conn./Waterford) hit a solo homerun to put the Devils
on the board in the second inning and Tyler Rosa
(Carmel by the Sea, Calif./Stevenson School) picked-up an
RBI with a double in the third.
The Devils capitalized on a pair of Shenandoah errors to score
two in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 8-4. The
Hornets answered with a pair of homeruns, including a grand slam as
the Hornets added six in the bottom half of the fifth.
The Devils strung together three straight doubles in the
seventh, adding three runs in that inning. Garrett
Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) had two doubles
on the day while Rosa doubled twice to drive in two runs.
Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth,
N.J/Ridge) and Jordan Kaufman (Somerset,
Pa./Somerset Area) each recorded two RBIs with
Sciambi adding a double in the seventh as well.
The Hornets improved to 34-7 overall with the win. The Red
Devils slip to 7-24 overall. Dickinson returns home to face
Swarthmore in a 12:30 double-header on Saturday.
