Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson College junior left-hander Sean White (Summit, N.J./Salisbury School) broke a Centennial Conference and school record, recording 21 strikeouts in a four-hit effort against McDaniel College on Friday. The Red Devils erupted on offense, posting a 19-0 win.

The Devils pushed across one in the first and broke the game open early in the second inning, scoring seven runs on six hits, including back-to-back doubles and a three-run bomb over the centerfield wall by junior Tyler Rosa' (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School).

Bart Marchant (Lakeville, Conn./Hotchkiss School) drove in a pair of runs with a double before Andrew Sterling (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) doubled with a high ball that dropped in leftfield, holding Marchant to just a base.

Evan Hennessy (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) and Rosa' added RBI doubles in a three-run fourth for the Red Devils. They tacked on three more in the fifth and pushed across another five in the sixth to close out the scoring for the day.

The Red Devils tallied a hit for each run, pounding out 19 on the afternoon. Rosa' led the way with six RBIs behind a 3-for-5 showing at the plate, adding three runs as well. His double in the fourth was just shy of leaving for park for the second time on the day as well.

Senior Mike Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) crossed the plate in four the Devils' five run-scoring innings. He tallied three hits, driving in three runs. Hennessy and James Santoro (Freehold, N.J./St. Rose) had identical lines, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Jordan Kaufman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) and Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) each added a pair of hits while Kaufman drove in a pair of runs. Marchant went 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored while Sterling finished 2-for-4, crossing the plate three times.

White earned the win, allowing just four hits and two walks to go with his 21 strikeouts. He is unofficially, one of just six Division III pitchers to record at least 21 strikeouts in a game. He erases a Dickinson school record from 1913 and 1919. Harry Hoch recorded 20 Ks in 1913 and B. Russell Lowe repeated the performance in 1919.

The Red Devils improve to 16-13 overall and 3-9 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Lancaster on Saturday for a double-header with the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
