(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson College baseball team has enjoyed an exciting few days, and on Thursday set a school record with its 19th win of the season. Junior Sean White (Summit, N.J./Salisbury School) returned to the mound after his record-setting, 21 strikeout performance last Friday to earn the win. He recorded seven strikeouts in eight innings as the Devils topped Muhlenberg, 10-5.
The Red Devils took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) singled up the middle and Bart Marchant (Lakeville, Conn./Hotchkiss School) drew a walk. Tuneski advanced to third on a wild pitch and came home on an error. Matt Vidal (Bronx, N.Y./All Hallows) reached on an infield single to score Marchant.
The Mules answered with one in the bottom half of the inning. They tied the game an inning later, scoring on a double steal. The Devils regained the lead on a two-run homer by junior Tyler Rosa' (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School). Senior Mike Schuster (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led-off with a single, stole second and scored on Rosa's bomb to center.
Muhlenberg cut the deficit to 4-3 before the Devils erupted for six in the top of the ninth. Senior Evan Hennessy (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) started things off with a solo shot to center and Rosa' tripled to trigger a six-hit, six run inning for the Devils.
The Mules added two in the bottom of the ninth for the final of 10-5. First-year Ryan Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) came on in the ninth to close out the game.
Rosa' went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, adding a walk. Tuneski went 3-for-5 and scored twice on the day while Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) and Schuster each tallied two hits.
Jason Daniels suffered the loss for Muhlenberg (10-23, 7-8), despite recording 10 strikeouts in a complete game effort.
The Red Devils improve to 19-14 overall and 5-10 in the Centennial Conference. They are scheduled to face Muhlenberg at home on Friday. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm at MacPhail Field.
