(Salem, Va.) – The Dickinson College men's lacrosse team, ranked 13th in the nation, knocked-off #10-ranked Roanoke College, 14-9, giving head coach David Webster '88 his 100th win at Dickinson. Webster has recorded 165 wins overall, posting the 100th of his career with Red Devil win over Wooster College in 2006. The Red Devils set back-to-back school records in 2010 and 2011 winning 15 and 17 games, respectively.

The Red Devils jumped out to a quick lead behind a pair of first quarter goals from long-stick midfielder Brandon Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge). The Devils struck first as sophomore Will Scott (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) found the net just 55 seconds into the contest.

Palladino scored off an assist from Sam Abramson (Alexandria, Va./Potomac) at the 12:13 mark and Tyler White (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) gave the Devils a 3-0 lead with 5:12 remaining in the first quarter.

The Maroons put a goal on the board at the 4:19 mark before the Devils closed out the quarter with a pair to lead 5-1. Palladino found himself open in transition and went to goal, scoring his second of the game. Scott fed sophomore Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) at the 2:28 mark.

Roanoke scored to open the second quarter before the Devils answered with three straight to lead 8-2 with 4:26 remaining in the half. Scott scored then assisted Sam Greenberg (Owings Mills, Md./McDonogh) almost immediately on the ensuing face-off to give Dickinson its biggest lead of the game.

Roanoke scored with 2:56 to play and again at the 2:10 mark to cut the deficit to 8-4 at halftime.

A, 4-1, third quarter put the Devils in front 12-5. White scored unassisted before Greenberg finished an assist from junior Matt Cherry (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) for a 10-4 advantage.

The Devils capitalized with a pair of extra-man opportunities. Scott fed Greenberg for a man-up goal and Nick Leon (Chevy Chase, Md./Gonzaga) scored from long-range to put Dickinson in front by seven.

The Maroons tallied twice to start the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to 12-7. The Devils added two more extra-man goals as Scott scored with 9:49 remaining and Greenberg finished an assist from Cannon at the 8:29 mark, giving the Devils a 14-7 lead.

Roanoke continued to look to rally, scoring twice to pull within five. The Red Devils played solid defense down the stretch. They finally gained possession late and were able to run out the clock.

Scott had a breakout game, scoring three goals and handing out three assists on the day. Greenberg finished with a hat-trick as well while Gruppo and White each struck twice.

Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) was outstanding on face-offs, winning 17-of-26 on the day and controlling a game-high 16 ground balls. He was just shy of the school single-game top ten for face-off wins and recorded the third-best performance for ground balls in a game.

Palladino added a pair of ground balls and two caused turnovers to his two-goal performance. Junior Greg Hanley (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) made six saves in goal for the Red Devils. First-year Slay Sudah (Franklin Park, N.Y./St. Joseph) caused six turnovers and controlled five ground balls.

Richard Lachlan led Roanoke (3-2) with four goals and an assist. Charles Pease made 13 saves on the day.

The Red Devils improve to 4-1 overall. They travel to Calvert Hall on Wednesday night to face Skidmore College at 7:00 pm.
