(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #8-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team opened Centennial Conference play with a 10-3 win over visiting McDaniel on Wednesday night.

McDaniel struck first as Michael Woglom drove to goal and put the Green Terror on the board at the 7:21 mark of the first period. The Devils answered just two minutes later as junior Matt Cherry (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) tallied an unassisted goal to even the score.

Sophomore Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) struck again for the Devils with just 17 seconds on the clock for 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Devils dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Terror, 4-0, to lead 6-2 at halftime. Long pole defender Draper Donley (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) picked-up a ground ball and scored to start the Devil run. First-year Tyler White (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) sandwiched a pair of goals around an extra-man tally from Nick Leon (Chevy Chase, Md./Gonzaga). White and Leon scored in a span of just nine seconds.

Brett Parker (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's) picked up an assist on White's first tally while Cherry assisted Leon with the 51st of his career, ranking him ninth in career assists at Dickinson. He moves in front of Ed Boyd '06 and Drew Peace '07, who both recorded 50 assists for the Devils.

The Devils stretched the lead to 8-1 as Cannon finished an assist from Christian Beitel (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) with 9:39 on the clock and Will Scott (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) found the net at the 9:13 mark.

William Clary scored at the end of the quarter and DJ Rickels finished an assist from Ben Yancheski to pull McDaniel within 8-3, early in the fourth. The Devils tacked on two more in the fourth as Beitel found Cannon again at the 10:53 mark and senior Richard Craft (Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal) muscled his way in for an unassisted goal with 7:35 to play to close out the scoring.

Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) was outstanding on face-offs winning 10-of-16 on the night while controlling six ground balls. Junior Brandon Palladino (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) caused four turnovers and picked-up five GBs while Donley added eight ground balls and a caused turnover to his goal.

Cannon led the attack with a hat-trick as nine different players tallied a goal or assist. Junior Greg Hanley (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) made eight saves in goal for the Red Devils, improving to 5-1 on the season.

The Red Devils, ranked eighth in the latest national coaches' poll, improve to 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Ursinus College on Saturday to face the Bears in a rematch of last season's conference semifinal.
