(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College baseball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead on Friday but Johns Hopkins would survive in the end with a 6-5 win at MacPhail Field.

The Blue Jays used a single and a double to score a run in the second inning. They stretched the lead to 3-0 on a two-run shot over the leftfield wall by Jeff Lynch in the top of the sixth inning.

That woke the bats in the Devil dugout as they strung together five hits in the bottom of the sixth to overtake the Blue Jays, 4-3. Andrew Sterling (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) led-off the inning with a double and came around as first-year Mitch Helmandollar (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) singled up the middle.

Tyler Rosa' (Carmel, Calif./Stevenson School) added a single and Garrett Horan (Providence, R.I./Moses Brown) laid down a beautiful bunt and reached safely to load the bases for senior shortstop Jordan Kaufman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area).  Kaufman singled through the left side to score another run. Matt Tuneski (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) drew an RBI walk and Joe Tursi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) drove in Kaufman with a sacrifice fly to deep center.

Mike Kanan singled to score a pair of Blue Jays in the top of the seventh to put the visitors back on top, 5-4. Senior Ben Sciambi (Port Monmouth, N.J./Ridge) led-off the eighth with a single and moved over on the second sacrifice bunt for Tuneski on the day.

First-year Joseph Martinez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Berkeley Carroll) came up with a pinch-hit double down the leftfield line to bring in Sciambi with the tying run, knotting the game, 5-5.

Matt Ricci doubled for Hopkins in the ninth and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Kyle Neverman hit a deep fly ball to centerfield that would score Ricci on the sacrifice. That would prove to be the game-winner as the Devils looked to rally but came up short with a runner on third.

Rosa' doubled into the gap in left center to give the Devils a lead-off base-runner. Conor Foote (Narberth, Pa./Lower Marion) pinch-ran and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Aaron Schwartz regained his composure to record back-to-back strikeouts and force a pop fly to secure the win for Hopkins.

Lynch went 3-for-5 to lead the Blue Jays (11-7-2, 2-0 CC). Schwartz earned the win on the mound, improving to 2-0 with three strikeouts in 1.1 innings of work.

Sciambi went 3-for-5 to lead the Red Devils at the plate. Rosa' added a pair of hits including a double while Sterling finished with a double and a single on the day as well.

The Red Devils slip to 11-7 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference. They will look to get back on track with a twin-bill at Haverford College on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 pm.
