Red Devils Win Ninth, Improve to 3-0 in CC

(Haverford, Pa.) – The #8-ranked Dickinson College men's lacrosse team improved to 9-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference, posting a 10-4 victory at Haverford on Saturday.

 

Senior Sam Abramson (Alexandria, Va./Potomac) tallied a pair of goals and two assists to pace the Red Devil attack. Sophomore Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola-Blakefield) added a hat-trick with three goals.

 

Abramson struck just 50 seconds into the game, scoring off an assist from Will Scott (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus). The 'Fords answered before the Red Devils went on a 7-0 run, carrying into the third quarter. The score was tied at the end of the first, 1-1.

 

Cannon scored on an assist from Parker Waldron (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) to break the tie. Scott scored off a pass from Matt Cherry (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Radnor) and Abramson netted a man-down goal to put the Devils in front, 4-1, at halftime.

 

After the break, Ward Gruppo (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) scored and then handed out a pair of assists to stretch the advantage to 7-1. Abramson dished a helper to Christian Beitel (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) before the 'Fords tallied again to make the score, 8-2, at the end of the third.

 

Beitel and Cannon put Dickinson in double-digits, extending the lead to 10-2. Haverford tallied a pair of late goals for the final of 10-4.

 

Chip Murray (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) turned in a strong performance, winning 10-of-15 face-offs and controlling seven ground balls. Peter Zouck (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) and Draper Donley (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) combined for six caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Slay Sudah (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Joseph) caused a pair of turnovers as well.

 

Greg Hanley (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) earned the win in goal, making seven saves on the day.

 

Gruppo and Scott each tallied a goal, two assists and four ground balls.

 

Joe Banno made seven saves and controlled five ground balls for Haverford (2-7, 1-3).

 

The Red Devils improve to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Red Devils return home to host Washington College next Saturday at 3:00 pm.
