(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's tennis team improved to 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference with an 8-1 win over Bryn Mawr College on Saturday.
The Red Devils rolled to a 3-0 start, winning doubles, 8-4, 8-1, 8-4. Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson) earned the win in the top singles flight, (6-1, 6-1), and joined Shannon Lavery (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington) for the win in the top doubles flight.
Lavery added an 8-1 decision in the second singles flight. Leigh Oczkowski (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) surrendered just one point on the day, winning 8-0 in the fourth singles flight and 8-1 in doubles with Brittany Zoll (Malvern, Pa./Shipley).
The Red Devils are home again on Tuesday, hosting Gettysburg College at 4:00 pm.
The Red Devil men suffered a 9-0 setback at Haverford College on Saturday. Will Golinkin (Houston, Texas/Kincaid) and Franco Mena (Azcunaga Quito, Ecuador/Collegio Americo de Quito) battled in the top doubles flight, but fell 8-4. Mena forced three sets in the third singles flight before suffering a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 setback to Andy Dougherty.
Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) battled in the fourth flight as well, before falling (4-6, 6-4, 10-6).
The Red Devils slip to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They host Gettysburg on Tuesday at 4:00 as well.
