(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #7-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team tallied three goals in the second half to post a 4-1 win over Dickinson on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils turned in a strong performance and played well against a very fast and potent Blue Jay attack.
Centennial Conference leading scorer, Hannah Kronick put the Blue Jays on the board in the first half, receiving a well played ball from Kelly Baker. Kronick carried the ball down the left side and placed a shot in the bottom, right corner of the net.
Hopkins struck early in the second as Baker slipped a long shot inside the left post, just 1:46 into the second half. Two minutes later Kronick placed a through pass into the box, putting Meg Van der Loo in behind the defense with a great look at the net.
Van der Loo tacked on another with 28:07 remaining in the game, stretching the Blue Jay lead to, 4-0. The Devils spoiled the shutout, answering just three minutes later. Sophomore Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) put the ball in the back of the net, receiving a beautiful pass from classmate Hannah Matlack (Needham, Mass./Noble & Greenough).
Sophomore Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) made some brilliant saves on the night, finishing with six, while first-year Deanna Ballard (Smithtown, N.Y./Monticello, Va.) came on to add a save.
The Red Devil defense turned away a pair of goals as well, clearing a sure goal off the line in each half.
Kelly Leddy and Sarah Benet combined for three saves in goal for Hopkins. The Blue Jays improve to 11-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils slip to 6-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the CC. They travel to Ursinus College on Saturday for a 5:00 pm kick-off with the Bears.
