(Carlisle, Pa) – The Dickinson women's soccer team finally found some offense on Saturday, erupting for seven goals in a shutout effort against Bryn Mawr College.
The Red Devils were strong, right from the start, scoring just 17 minutes into the match. Senior Rosalin Savoie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) struck first, heading in a cross from junior Jess Swain (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends), to put the Red Devils on the board.
Exactly two minutes later sophomore Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) found the back of the net, scoring on a cross from Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) in the 18th minute.
The Red Devils dialed in a pair of goals from long range to close out the half. First-year Gabriella Tomasini (Garden City Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) launched a rocket from about 30 yards out, into the corner of the net with 18:52 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Bridgette Corbran (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) repeated the performance, from almost the identical spot, a little over a minute later.
Dickinson continued to apply pressure after the break, scoring twice in the opening five minutes in the second half. Young started things off, scoring just 3:25 into the period. Savoie tallied the assist to stretch the margin to, 5-0.
The Devils capitalized on a free-kick at first-year Talia Amorsano (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown) served a beautiful ball to the foot of senior Olivia Licata (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands), who put the ball away to the sixth goal of the afternoon.
Sophomore Ashley Brennan (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) closed out the scoring with a rocket into the right corner of the net. Corbran picked up the assist, finding Brennan in the box on the left side of the field.
The Red Devils were dominant throughout the match, holding a 34-5 advantage in shots. Dickinson also force seven corners while not allowing any on the defensive end.
First-year Deanna Ballard (Smithtown, N.Y./Monticello, Va.) earned the start in goal, making three saves to earn her first collegiate shutout. Aviva Kennedy made nine saves in the nets for Bryn Mawr, as they fall to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in the Centennial Conference.
The Red Devils climb above .500, improving to 5-4-1 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play. They are home again on Wednesday, hosting Gettysburg College at 7:00 pm.
