(Lake Myrtle, Fla.) – The Dickinson baseball team swept a twin-bill from Juniata College on Saturday, to open spring break play in Florida. The Red Devils claimed the opener, 10-2, and captured the nightcap, 4-3, in an 11-inning affair.

Junior right-hander Ryan Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) improved to 2-0 on the season, earning the win in game one. He went five innings, allowing just two hits while recording three strikeouts and no earned runs. First-year Thomas Galuchie (Upland, Calif./Claremont) came on to close out the game with two strong innings of relief.

The Red Devils strung together six hits in the third inning, scoring four runs to take a 7-0 lead. First-year Mike DeVivo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) drove in a pair of runs while sophomore Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) added a hit, run scored and an RBI in the inning.

Sophomore Mitch Helmandollar (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) cleared the bases with a three-RBI double in the top of the sixth inning, putting the Devils up, 10-2.

First-year Benn Parker (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored.

The Red Devils were forced to work overtime to finish off the Eagles in the nightcap. Dickinson capitalized on a pair of Juniata errors to take a 3-0 lead at the end of the fourth inning. Sanders led-off the second inning with a single and later scored off an RBI from Helmandollar.

Haynes drew a walk and Otis reached on an error, moving Haynes into scoring position on third base. Helmandollar added another RBI with a sacrifice bunt and Otis came in off the bat of James Santoro (Freehold, N.J./St. Rose) to give the Devils a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles took advantage in fifth, putting a run on the board, following a pair of walks to lead-off the inning. They used four hits in the sixth inning to pull even, 3-3.

The Devils pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the 11th inning, using three straight base-hits. DeVivo reached and moved into scoring position on a hit by Parker. Sophomore Sam Wachs (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) made it three in row for Devils, driving in the winning run.
