(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson men's swim team suffered a tough, 110-95 setback at Washington College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils touched the wall first in just four events but had strong finishes to keep the Shoremen in striking distance.
First-year Joe Caucino (Sea Girt, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) had a strong outing, winning the 1000 yard freestyle (10:18.58) and placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.23. Classmate Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) won the 500 freestyle, clocking a time of 4:53.68. Bennett added second place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:47.54) and as the lead leg of the 400 free relay (3:17.53).
Senior Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:14.07. He placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:01.47) and anchored the second place medley relay. Classmate Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) clocked a time of 21.54 to win the 50 freestyle, and placed second with the medley relay.
Junior Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:00.58) and with the 400 free relay. He added a third place showing in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.98.
Junior Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) chipped in with a pair of seconds, posting a time of 2:03.77 in the 200 butterfly, and swimming the third leg of the medley relay. Junior Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken School) joined the free relay for a second place, and also finished second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.79.
The Red Devils slip to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to Franklin & Marshall on February 1st to face the Diplomats at 1:00 pm.
