(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team had a tough outing in Baltimore, falling at #6-ranked Johns Hopkins, 5-0, on Wednesday night.
The Blue Jays struck four times in the first half with Issy Berkey netting the game-winner in the 22nd minute. Allie Baker bent a corner into the net with just over nine minutes remaining in the half to stretch the lead to 2-0.
A Hannak Kroncik cross led to an own goal with 3:45 remaining in the half. Kronick collected a loose ball after a corner and scored to put Hopkins in front, 4-0, with just 11 seconds on the clock.
The Red Devils regrouped at halftime and held the Blue Jays scoreless in the second half, outside of a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Dickinson was outshot for the game but held a 6-5 advantage in the second half. Clara Aranguran came on after the break to make four saves in goal for Hopkins as they improve to 13-2 overall and 7-0 in the Centennial Conference.
Junior Bridgette Corbran (Manasquan, N.J./Wall) had three strong chances on goal in the second half, forcing three great saves from Aranguran.
Junior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) made five saves in goal for Dickinson as the Red Devils slip to 11-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the conference. They return home to face Ursinus College at Miller Memorial Field on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
