(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to #5-nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins University in Saturday's Centennial Conference opener.
Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) earned the lone point for the Red Devils, winning the fifth singles flight (2-6, 6-4, 4-0 def.).
Senior Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) played a strong match at #1-singles, falling to Jeffrey McKenzie, 6-2, 7-5. First-year Jackson Claudio (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) battled in the second flight, suffering a 6-3, 6-4 setback.
John Kneisley (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) went 6-4, 6-3 in the fourth while Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) rallied in the second set before falling 6-2, 7-5.
Kaseff teamed with Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) in the second double flight to challenge German Gonzalez-Rivas and Jeremy Schwartz in a 9-7 decision.
The Red Devils slip to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the CC. They host Ursinus College, next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
