Box Score
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson baseball team played to a 6-6 tie with Muhlenberg College on Friday. The game was called at the end of the seventh after the Mules tied the game with a two-run homer in the top half of the inning.
The Mules pushed across a run in the first as John Icaza led-off the game with a single and came around to score on a double by Max Litvak.
The Red Devils countered, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first. Ryan Dolan (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Germantown Academy) singled to lead-off for the Devils. He stole second and moved to third as the ball sailed into the outfield. He came in to tie the game on a passed ball.
Hank Sanders (Wellsville, Pa./Northern) doubled down the line to score Joe Tursi (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior Steven Haynes (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) singled to score Mike Adams (Mount Olive, N.J./Mount Olive) to stretch the lead to 3-1.
Sophomore Brian McCloud (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) drove in two runs to put to Devils up, 5-1 at the end of the first.
The Mules cut the deficit to 5-3 on a double to left center from Icaza.
Ryan Kramer (New Vernon, N.J./Morristown Beard) had a strong start on the mound, recording seven strikeouts, including three looking in the first three innings.
The game went into a rain delay with one out in the bottom of the third inning. After play resumed the Red Devils tallied a run in the bottom of the inning to lead, 6-3.
Litvak scored Icaza on a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to two runs. That would become critical as Muhlenberg dodged a bullet in the top of the seventh. After the umpires decided the game would end at the end of the inning, Brett Rosen launched a two-run homer to tie the game, 6-6.
The Red Devils were unable to plate the winning run, and despite playable conditions, the umpires called the game, tied 6-6. If necessary, the game will be completed on Monday afternoon, at 2:00 pm.
Sanders went 2-for-4, scoring one run and driving in another. McCloud drove in two runs with a single and reached on a walk and an error.
Kramer finished with eight strikeouts in 4.1 innings. Tyler Clauson-Wolf (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) came on in relief, recording three strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
The Mules move to 15-16-1 and 8-7-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils now stand at 20-11-1 overall and 6-8-1 in the conference. Dickinson travels to Washington College for a 12:30 pm double-header on Saturday.
