Gleason Gets Offensive as Red Devils Top Haverford

(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team tallied five goals in the second and third quarters, posting a 14-6 win at Haverford College.

 

The Red Devils took a 3-0 lead in the first period as senior Brian Gleason (Darien, Conn./Darien) scored the opening goal, and then handed out assists to Brian Cannon (Reisterstown, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Tyler Llewellyn (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield).

 

Gleason found the net again to start the second, stretching the lead to 4-0 at the 12:39 mark. Haverford put a goal on the board with 8:34 remaining in the half, but the Red Devils answered with three straight to stretch the lead to 7-1.

 

Carter Moore (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) followed up another Gleason tally to cap the run. The 'Fords sandwiched a pair of goals around a strike from Llewellyn to make the score 8-3, at halftime.

 

Brett Parker (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School) kept things rolling in the second half, scoring at the 13:45 mark. Cannon put the Devils up 10-3, scoring an extra-man goal off an assist from Chris Menard (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley).

 

Chris Christiansen scored for Haverford at the 11 minute mark before Gleason, Parker and Moore all found the net again to extend the margin to 13-4 with 5:53 to play in the third. Christiansen struck again to close out the period.

 

The fourth quarter saw just two goals as Cannon finished an assist from Gleason and Haverford found the net once again for the final of 14-6.

 

Gleason had a great outing, scoring four goals and handing out three assists. Cannon finished with a hat-trick while Parker tallied two goals and two assists. Menard finished with three assists on the day.

 

Moore tied his own mark and the fifth-best single game total, winning 20-of-22 face-offs. He tallied 14 ground balls and scored twice.

 

Senior Draper Donley (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's School) caused three turnovers to anchor a solid defensive effort. Defensive midfielder Ace Sudah (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Joseph) controlled three GBs.

 

Sophomore goaltender Nick Baxter (Boxford, Mass./Governor's) made six saves while senior Max Pawk (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) came on to make three saves.

 

The Red Devils were dominant on ground balls, holding a 35-14 advantage while outshooting the hosts, 40-26.

 

The Red Devils improve to 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to host Gettysburg College on Wednesday. Opening face-off is set for 4:00 pm.
