The Diplomats had not lost a regular season game at Tylus Field since October 2, 2013. That streak spanned 20 games until junior Macsen Pritchard (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) headed in a corner in the regular season finale.
F&M drew a free-kick at the top of the 18 with 25 minutes to play and saw the shot deflect off the crossbar. The Diplomats had another shot off the bar at the nine minute mark of the first half.
The Diplomats held the advantage in the first half, outshooting the Devils, 11-1, and holding a slim 2-0 edge in corners.
The Diplomats had an early shot in the second half that sailed high. Dickinson countered with a great chance that went just wide of the post on the other end.
They followed that up with another strong attempt as senior Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy) sent a shot that went just over the bar.
The offense continued to come on both ends as the Diplomats came down and created another opportunity but Wyatt Fabian's shot was just wide.
A controversial corner led to back-to-back shots and two strong chances for F&M, with just over 33 minutes remaining.
Will Bracken (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) received a good pass at the top of the 18, and hit a shot just wide of the net.
Junior goaltender Jeremy Palcan (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Sebastian's Prep) made a huge save with just under three minutes remaining in regulation.
The Red Devils capitalized on a corner with time running down as Pritchard redirected the serve from Hylton-Dei, into the back of the net to put Dickinson on the board with just 59 seconds on the clock.
Devon Malfitano came right back on the kick-off and looked to tally the equalizer but Palcan was there once again to make the stop. He smothered a final attempt by Fabian as time expired with the Red Devils claiming the victory.
F&M finished the game with a 17-6 shot advantage and a 3-2 edge in corners, but the Devils tallied the stat that counted, scoring in the 89th minute.
