(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team continued its strong start in Centennial Conference play, improving to 4-1 in the CC, with a 6-3 win over visiting Ursinus College on Friday afternoon.
The Bears survived a tight match in the top doubles flight, claiming a 9-7 decision. The Red Devils claimed the second and third flights to take a 2-1 lead into singles.
Ursinus claimed points with wins at #1 and #6, but the Devils swept the middle flights to secure the match. Junior Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) worked for the win at #2, (7-6 (4), 6-4). He teamed with Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) for an 8-6 win in doubles.
Sophomore Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery dominated in the third flight, winning 6-1, 6-0, and first-year Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) overcame a tough first set to win at #4 (4-6, 6-4, 7-5).
Senior Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) had a strong showing in the fifth flight, winning 6-2, 6-2. He joined former high school teammate Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) for an 8-2 doubles win.
The Red Devils improve to 6-3 overall. They have a big match tomorrow, hosting Swarthmore College at 1:00 pm.
