(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team claimed a key Centennial Conference match at McDaniel College on Tuesday afternoon. The Red Devils posted a 6-3 win to improve to 5-2 in conference play and 7-4 overall.
The Green Terror opened the match with a pair of doubles wins to take a 2-1 advantage. Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) and Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) earned the point with a 8-3 decision in the number three spot to put the Red Devils on the board.
Dickinson claimed five of the six singles flights to win the match. Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) won in straight sets to capture the top singles flight, 6-2, 6-4. Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) overcame a tough first set to win at #3, (7-6, 6-0).
First-year Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) survived a marathon in the fourth flight, holding off Daniel Xinis (2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9)). Kaseff and Davis closed out the match with straight set victories at five and six as the Devils move into a third place tie with Haverford in the CC standings.
The Red Devils return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Muhlenberg College for a 5:00 pm start in Allentown.
