(Allentown, Pa.) –The Dickinson men's tennis team had to move indoors to face Muhlenberg College on Wednesday night, but the Red Devils adjusted to claim a key 6-3 win to improve to 6-2 in the Centennial Conference.
Muhlenberg held off a challenge from Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) and Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) to claim the top doubles flight, 9-7. The Red Devils rebounded to win the second and third, by identical 8-5 scores.
Kaplan held on to win his first set, 7-6, and then went 6-1 in the second to take #1 singles. Chapman moved into the second flight and posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
The Mules earned points at number three and four, with the Devils coming out on top in the fifth and sixth singles flights. Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) won at five (6-4, 6-3), and joined Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) for the win at #2-doubles.
Senior Erik Dinardo (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) stepped in for wins at number six and with first-year Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) in the third doubles flight.
The Red Devils improve to 8-4 overall to go with their 6-2 mark in the Centennial Conference. They are home on Saturday with another key match, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
