#3 Bullets Top Devils to Remain Unbeaten

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team crossed paths with #3-ranked Gettysburg on Wednesday, suffering a 17-5 setback at Mussleman Stadium.

 

The Bullets jumped out to a 3-0 start. Jameson Smith struck first and dished out an assist to Bijan Firouzan for an extra-man goal and a 2-0 lead. Robby Maddux gave the hosts a 3-0 advantage at the 5:47 mark.

 

First-year Mitchell Andres (East Lyme, Conn./Berkshire) broke up the run, finding the net with 4:10 remaining in the first. Brendan Morris answered at the 3:26 mark to put Gettysburg in front, 4-1, at the end of the first.

 

The Red Devils scored right out of the gate to start the second period. Rob Kendall (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) scored off an assist from Mike Serpa (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), just 15 seconds in.

 

The Bullets pulled in front, 6-2, as Firouzan fed Morris for another extra-man goal, and scored a man-down goal, with 8:10 to play in the half.

 

The Devils capitalized on a man-up opportunity as Chris Jones (Bellmore, N.Y./Bellmore JFK) found the net with an assist from first-year Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), with 3:25 on the clock. Sean Fumai closed out the first half, scoring off an assist from Maddux to give Gettysburg a 7-3 lead at halftime.

 

Fumai tallied again to start the second half, scoring at the 12:33 mark. Maddux scored his 33rd goal of year to stretch the margin to 9-3, with 5:08 to play in the third. Junior Greg Castro (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) won the ensuing face-off and went right to goal, scoring seven seconds later.

 

The Bullets tacked on a pair of goals to close out the quarter, leading 11-4, at the end of the third. Gettysburg continued to press, scoring on the opening face-off of the fourth quarter. That triggered a 5-0 run to start the quarter as the Bullets continued to roll to an 11-0 start and a 4-0 mark in the Centennial Conference.

 

Sophomore Will Trevenen (Montclair, N.J./Taft) added an extra-man goal for the Devils, scoring at the 4:38 mark.

 

Maddux and Firouzan led the Gettysburg attack, scoring three goals and handing out two assists. Tim Brady made seven saves in the nets for the Bullets.

 

Five different players scored for the Devils. Castro won 10-of-18 face-offs while first-year Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) claimed 4-of-6. D.J. Henderson (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) and Graham Parsons (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) each tallied four ground balls while Michael Smith (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) added three GBs. Nick Baxter (Boxford, Mass./Governor's) made 13 saves for the Red Devils.

 

Dickinson slips to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Washington College for a 3:00 pm face-off.
