(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team swept the 500-yard freestyle and the 200 individual medley on the way to a 137-68 win over visiting Messiah College on Tuesday night.
Junior Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) led the way in the distance events, winning both the 1000 and 500 freestyle with times of 10:21.87 and 5:03.52. First-year James Cummings (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) touched the wall second in both events, posting marks of 10:48.95 and 5:13.57.
Senior Brian Reid (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) claimed the third spot in the 500 with a time of 5:17.49. He was third in the 200 freestyle (1:54.00) and anchored the winning 200 free relay that clocked a time of 1:32.31.
Senior Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) won the 50 freestyle (23.00) and placed third in the 100 (50.77). He added a win, anchoring the 200 medley relay (1:40.08). Classmate Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) joined the medley relay and won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.81.
Sophomore Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) led the sweep in the individual medley with a winning time of 2:01.87. He joined the winning free relay and claimed third in the 100 backstroke (57.92). Classmate Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) earned wins with both relays and captured the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.83, just ahead of Dylan Gilhooly (Darien, Conn./Darien) with a mark of 55.96.
First-years Will Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) and John Crafa (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) placed second and third in the IM, clocking times of 2:04.79 and 2:11.17, respectively. Freeman added a bronze in the breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:03.24. Junior Nick Beard (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was second in the breaststroke (1:02.48) and finished fourth in the 200 free (1:54.43).
First-year Graham Novitch (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) was a double-winner with the medley relay and in the 100 backstroke (56.41). He was third in the 50 free with a time of 23.39.
Senior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) added three silvers on the night. He led-off the free relay and swam the 100 and 200 freestyles for marks of 50.18 and 1:49.05.
The Red Devils improve to 4-2 on the season. They are in competition on Friday evening and Saturday, traveling to the Gettysburg Invitational.
