Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team opened Centennial Conference play with a 7-2 win over visiting McDaniel College on Wednesday afternoon at Biddle Field.
The first quarter saw the majority of the scoring as the Red Devils took a 3-2 lead. Senior Rob Kendall (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) made a nice dodge and put Dickinson on the board with 12:09 remaining in the period.
Junior Tyler Llewellyn (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) added an unassisted goal, just 35 seconds later to put the Devils up 2-0.
Chase Hartman sandwiched a pair McDaniel of goals around a beautiful feed from John Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) to Kendall on the back pipe for his second of the game.
The middle quarters belonged to the defense with the Red Devils netting the lone goals of the second and third periods. Kendall returned the favor, finding Lockwood on the back post at the 4:38 mark to make the score 4-2 at halftime.
Kendall completed the hat-trick in the third, scoring off an assist from first-year Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) at the 12:48 mark. Dickinson rattled off 16 shots in the period but were unable to dial in, taking a 5-2 advantage into the fourth.
The Red Devil defense continued to frustrate the Green Terror as they were simply unable to make up any ground while Nick Baxter (Newbury, Mass./Governor's) turned away eight shots in the second half. The Devils held the visitors scoreless for the final 35 minutes of the game.
Senior Chris Menard (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) scored on a rocket, off an assist from Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven), with 10:24 to play in the game. Classmate Chris Clementi Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) finished things off with just 50 seconds on the clock.
Patrick Finneran (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and Andy Grabis (Chestertown, Md./St. Andrew's) each controlled three grounds balls to anchor the defensive effort along with first-year Jack Doran (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford School).
Graham Parsons (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) tallied four GBs and caused a pair of turnovers and sophomore Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) won seven face-offs.
Baxter finished with 13 saves, making some unbelievable stops on the afternoon. Kendall led the attack with three goals and an assist.
Eric Ritchie tallied nine saves for McDaniel as the Green Terror slips to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Red Devils improve to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the CC. They travel to Ursinus College on Saturday to face-off with the Bears at 1:00 pm.
