(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team handed Ursinus College its second loss of the season, posting a 6-3 win in Collegeville on Saturday.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 3-0 start, sweeping the doubles matches. Ursinus rebounded with wins in the top two singles flights before Dickinson secured the match with decisions in the third, fourth and fifth.
Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) earned two points, winning the third singles flight (6-1, 6-0). He joined Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham) for an 8-4 decision in the top doubles match.
Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) overcame a tough first set with a strong second to win fourth singles (0-6, 6-1, 6-4). First-year Derek Chen (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Cranbury Twp.) had a similar result in the fifth, winning (1-6, 6-4, 10-8).
Davis partnered with senior Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) in second doubles for an 8-2 win and Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) and Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) claimed the third, 8-3.
The Bears fall to 8-2 overall and 0-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils improve to 2-5 and 1-1 in the CC. They return home to face McDaniel College on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 pm.
