(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's lacrosse team made a great run at the end of the game, tying the score in the final minutes but host Franklin & Marshall was able to score a pair of late goals to secure an 12-10 decision in Saturday's regular season finale.

The Red Devils put a goal on the board almost immediately as senior Rob Kendall (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) scored off an assist from Alex Hosker ( Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep), just 11 seconds into the contest. John Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) put Dickinson up, 2-0, with 12:19 on the clock.

The Diplomats answered with three straight to take a 3-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Dickinson started the second period in similar fashion, netting back-to-back goals from sophomore Dylan Maher (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and first-year Brad Zulick (Elkridge, Md./Howard) to put the Devils back on top, 4-3, with 10:12 to play in the first half.

Mike Wasik and Michael Bossidy followed suit from the first quarter as well, putting F&M in front, 5-4 at halftime. Senior goaltender Nick Baxter (Newberry, Mass./Governor's) had a great first half, making three saves in the first and turning away four shots in the second.

Kendall pulled the Devils even once again, scoring exactly one minute into the second half. The Diplomats countered before Dickinson capitalized on an extra-man opportunity with Maher netting his second of the game off an assist from Tyler Strods (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) at the 5:51 mark.

Wasik tallied a late goal to end the third with the Diplomats holding a 7-6 lead. Two more in the opening four minutes of the fourth put F&M up, 9-6.

Senior Chris Menard (South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) ripped a shot into the back of the net, scoring off an assist from Tucker Carney (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) with 10:38 remaining in the game.

Harry Rice made it 10-7, scoring unassisted with 6:09 on the clock before sophomore Ryan Campbell (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fairhaven) won the ensuing face-off and went right to the net, scoring just eight seconds later.

The Red Devils would rally, pulling even with just over three minutes to play in regulation. Menard cut the deficit to one and Maher tallied unassisted to give Dickinson a great opportunity to close out the game. Baxter came up with another huge save to give the Devils a final chance to pull in front.

F&M was able to hold and tallied the go-ahead goal with just 58 seconds to play as Sean Rogers finished an assist from George Briggs. The Diplomats gained possession once again and called timeout. They came out of the break and quickly added an insurance goal with 32 seconds on the clock for the final of 12-10.

Maher finished with a hat-trick to lead the Red Devils on attack while Menard and Kendall each found the net twice on the day. Graham Parsons (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) caused a pair of turnovers and picked-up two ground balls. Campbell won 11 face-offs and controlled five GBs. Baxter finished with 11 saves.

Scott Hatch made nine saves for F&M as they improve to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils finish the season, 8-7 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
