(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team suffered a 113-92 setback in the regular season finale at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils had strong showings in the distance events as junior Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.53 and claimed second in the 500 with a mark of 4:52.44.
Senior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished just ahead of Reynolds to capture the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:41.98. He also won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.38 and swam the anchor leg of the second place 200 free relay (1:29.22).
Classmate Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) led-off the free relay and added a pair of second-place performances in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 22.52 and 49.99.
First-year Graham Novitch (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) was second in the 200 freestyle (2:00.85) and swam the lead leg of the 400-medley relay for a time of 3:34.54 to place second.
The Red Devils swept the top three spots in the 200 breaststroke, led by senior Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) with a winning time of 2:10.53. Junior Nick Beard (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was second (2:14.88) and first-year Will Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) touched the wall third with a time of 2:15.69.
Freeman claimed second in the individual medley with a time of 2:01.81 while Eaton swam the second leg of the medley relay.
Sophomore Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added a pair of silvers with the relays and earned a win in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 1:55.77. John Crafa (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was third in the butterfly (2:06.95) while Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) anchored the medley relay and claimed second with the free relay, swimming the third leg.
The Red Devils finish the dual-meet schedule with an overall mark of 7-4 and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. They will travel to Franklin & Marshall for the Centennial Conference Championships on February 17th, 18th and 19th.
