(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team fell to #17-ranked Johns Hopkins University in the Centennial Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils played well to open the match, but the Blue Jays would pull in front, 3-0, after doubles.
Shawn Diniz (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands) and Samuel Loring (New York, N.Y./Blair Academy) earned four points in the top doubles flight while Qi Hua (Shanghai, China/St. Stephen's Episcopal) and Jackson Claudio (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) battled in an 8-6 setback in the third flight.
Jackson would earn the point for the Red Devils, claiming the second singles flight, 7-6, 6-2. Loring turned in a strong match in the four spot, overcoming a tough first set, (6-1, 7-6 (10-5)).
The Red Devils slip to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. They travel to Swarthmore College next Saturday for a 1:00 pm match with the Garnet.
